An Interview with the author of ‘Converging Lives,’ Samantha Beardon

When did you start to have a love for books?
Always I had books from tiny and have read all my life.

What was your Favourite book as a Child?
Black Beauty by Anna Sewell

What was that turning Point that changed you from a reader to a writer?
I think time, I have always wanted to write and whilst I have been writing poetry for a while, time and maybe inspiration have hindered me. Playing online opened my eyes to a whole new world and talking to people hearing their stories, of a world I didn’t know existed inspired me to start the journey.
What is your favourite book to write so far?
This is my first. I know I have made lots of mistakes during the process but I have loved every minute of the steep learning curve.

What about your favourite character or characters in your books ? Which characters in your books do you think readers will really feel a connection with?
I have soft spot for Rick even given his behaviour. Marghita took over in a way I wasn’t expecting so affection or exasperation with her I am not sure, she caused me some additional work! Carol only had a bit part in this novel but I foresee her future development.
The readers, might connect with Eve, or it will depend on their experiences. Whether they have been involved in a cyber flirtation or not might effect their perceptions.

What can readers expect from you next?
A continuation of Converging Lives carrying on with the stories introducing new characters maybe written from a different point of view. A poetry book is in the making.

Now we have talked about your book, let’s get to know you as an author! What are your favourite books now as an adult? Television shows? Movies?
Books I like an eclectic mix. Although I do adore meaty novels with a historical twist. My husband buys me books by weight to keep me quiet!

The Camulod Chronicles by Jack White
On the Edge of Darkness by Barbara Erskine
Tales of the Otori by Lian Hearn

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet
The Thread by Victoria Hislop
Every book that Noel Barber ever wrote I devoured them all and have read them all several times.

I love retro movies, African Queen, The Lavender Hill Mob, Shaw shank Redemption.
Sliding Doors and the Lake House are my chill out type of movie plus Sleepless in Seattle.
I could go on…

How would you describe your life in ten words or under?
Fulfilled. Exciting. Unexpected and Amazing.

What is your favourite place to visit?
Canada. I adore its so varied and breath-taking. There are so many places in the world I havent yet visited and many I never will other than in books, the movies or on tv.
Australia and New Zealand, South America, India are on my list.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I paint silk, usually wearable art. I love to cook, go to the theatre and to concerts.
I am doing an Art Appreciation course at the moment to better understand the meanings of paintings. It is so interesting. I am also studying relationships and how to get the best from interpersonal relationships.
