‘Shattered Blue’ by Lauren Bird Horowitz is exactly what a Young Adult novel should be (although I am far removed from young adult status now!);full of magic, mystery, adventure and parallel worlds! The imagination knows no limits!
‘Shattered Blue’ centres around Noa, still grieving after the tragic loss of her older sister Isla, whose death has ripped open a gaping, jagged hole in her family.
Enter the mysterious Cameron; gorgeous and compelling, Noa feels drawn to him, and yet after their initial meeting he seems to go out of his way to avoid her. However, circumstances seem to bring them together, and as their attraction and feelings for each other grow, Noa, part-living in the world of ghosts herself, finds herself increasingly immersed in Cameron’s world, a frightening place full of fae, banishments and bitter feuds. So begins a battle, for Cameron, for Noa, for life itself, as together they fight to defeat the enemy who would see them die.
I loved this book, and particularly for all fans of the Creepy Hollow series, you will too!
My only issue was that some of the early introductions to this strange new world were a little too packed with description which was occasionally a little confusing, and this did impact on my understanding of the story. However, on the whole a thoroughly absorbing read!
I give this book four out of five stars.
