Let the Dead Speak by Jane Casey

I was reading through the other reviews for ‘Let the Dead Speak’ and came across one that summed up my sentiments completely.  A great book that will keep you reading, but – it’s the seventh in a whole series of books on DI Maeve Kerrigan!  Only one thing for it, to find and read all previous six in the series and catch up on all the previous events in Kerrigan’s life.  There are hints throughout that DI Kerrigan has a documented life before number 7 in the series, but that said, this book can be read as a stand alone – and simply whets the appetite for more.
Chloe Emery returns home to find the her mother missing, and the house covered in blood.  Chloe is taken in by a neighbouring family who Maeve rapidly puts at the top of her wanted list, but with no body as evidence, each turn in the plot appears to lead to a dead end.  Then Chloe goes missing too….
A great story that simmers just on the edge of boiling throughout and keeping the reader guessing right to the end.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
