As a reader in the right age group and life stage for this book, I was really quite excited to be accepted to read, rate and review ‘Going Through the Change’ by Samantha Bryant. Having been an avid reader of chick-lit for more years than I care to remember(!) I was pleasantly surprised to find a book that fell within the genre for the older ‘chick’!
Unfortunately it wasn’t really my cup of tea, although I’m positive that it will be very popular with many readers. Light-hearted, witty and fun,’Going Through the Change’ examines the fictional lives of four women each experiencing different symptoms of the change – as it has never been experienced before! Particular personality traits are emphasised and developed in very unusual ways with humourous consequences. All four women are linked by the mysterious Dr Liu who has supplied each woman with natural remedies to treat their symptoms.
Initially I found the rapid chapter and main character changes quite complicated to follow and it took me a good few pages to tune in, however, once I had sorted everyone out the writing style flowed and was easy to follow.
Sure to be a popular book among fellow chick-lit readers.
I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.
