Dearborn by Jenni Moen

‘Dearborn’ by Jenni Moen was a slow burner for me. I felt the story took a little while to get going, but gradually Jenni Moen builds up the momentum until it reeled me in completely and I was hooked.

This is a beautiful and gently told fantasy of a people that are different. Willow is a two-natured; she shifts between her human form and that of a doe. Not only is she a two-natured however, but she also feels other peoples’ emotions as keenly as if they were her own. Into the picture comes Quinn, a troubled war hero, suffering PTSD from his stint in Afghanistan and unsure of his place in the world. He is drawn to Willow; having known each other from their High School days the two have a little history together and inevitably picking up where they left off, the two fall in love – but is Quinn really all he seems?
Infused with mystery and magic this is a gorgeous love story between two very likeable characters.
I rate it four stars.
