A Girl Like You by Michelle Cox

will be frank. ‘A Girl Like You’ wasn’t really for me. The setting was authentic; set in Chicago in the 1930s, the story took me back to the black and white films of the genre that I loved so much in my younger days. In my opinion however, the characters weren’t strong enough to carry a very powerful and formative period of American history, and the written conversation between them just didn’t flow. If I could choose one word to describe the book, it would be ‘bland.’
I will say that I have read other reviews which have praised ‘A Girl Like You’ very highly so please don’t take my word for it as it is only an entirely subjective opinion. Sadly however, I just didn’t take to it.
I rate this book 2 our of 5 stars.
